What are the aims of the research?

The research will be looking at the ways that agencies work together in adult protection and at how the process works, comparing different ways of working around England and Wales . The regulation of social care (particularly in relation to adult protection) is another facet of the study. These areas have been influenced by the 'modernisation' of social services and the new systems for professional regulation (such as the introduction of the General Social Care Council) and the new structures for adult protection at local level (with policies and procedures). How these systems link to other networks tackling abuse will be one element of this study. The findings of the study will be presented to the Department of Health with recommendations for future practice.
